Event: Pahela Baishakh

Activities: visiting and greeting, holding temple fairs and many other great folklore-inspection events.
It is the first day of the Bangla Calendar. Pahela Baishakh is a public holiday. Some people wear traditional Bengali dresses like young women wear white sarees with red borders. And Men wear white pyjamas or dhoti and kurta. Peoples spend much of the day visiting relatives, friends, and neighbours. Fairs are arranged in many parts of the country. There were also cultural programs held in these fairs and people came forward to took parts in events. In Dhaka a large number of people gather at Ramna Park and artistes open the day with Tagore's famous song, Eso he Baishakh eso eso, welcoming Baishakh. Everybody enjoys with great enthu, exchange gifts and sweets to each other.
Date: End of the Islamic month of Ramadan
Activities: Also known as Eid, it is the biggest Muslim festival observed throughout the world.This is held on the day following the Ramadan or the month of fasting. In Dhaka big congregations are held at the National Eidgah and many mosques.Children burn crackers and people give sweets to their relative.They celebrate this festival with great pomp and show.
